Why does growth matter? Many residents may feel content with the current size of our city and may even want things to stay “just like the good ‘ol days” as they may think growth places strain on a cities resources and infrastructure. There are many examples of good growth and the benefits of it to the City, residents and business owners.
Looking at a larger vantage point, a larger population, in itself, creates demands for education, health, transport and general services that generates jobs, tax revenues and enhanced economic activity. A larger population means more demand for your goods and services, creating organic growth of your business. In addition to more customers for your business, a larger population provides a larger pool of skilled labour to support a growing business.
We need to continually advocate that we support growth and are open for both new residents and new businesses in our community. We have a capable market that can create opportunities for many. Economic Development Regina continually advocates the Regina Advantage, and that Regina is best place to invest, live and play in Canada.
