Let’s stay one of the most livable cities in the world.
Regina was ranked #1 for Canada’s best city for jobs AND affordable homes by Huffington Post in July 2016.
The study compiled data from Bank of Montreal’s Labour Market Report Card, and from home affordability indexes from Royal Bank of Canada and Caisse Desjardins, to determine which cities are the best on both measures. It showed the jobless rate, average house prices, BMO labour market ranking and RBC affordability ranking. It reported Regina added 1.2% net new jobs over the past year and that the average house price is less than half of Toronto’s. All these factors made Regina the best city in Canada to find a job and an affordable home.
This is good news to all the newcomers that we’re welcoming and need somewhere to lay their heads. It makes sense that housing enables economic prosperity. After all, workers can only come to Regina if they have an affordable place to live.
But we want them to do more than just live. To guarantee the enduring success of our city, we want them to feel at home. Their investment of heart and soul in Regina’s continued success will write the rest of the story.
